Dear praying friends,

Thanks so much for praying for us and the ministry here.

We have had some special days lately and have been busy preparing for them!

Last Saturday we had a wedding in the church of Raya and Artem, a young couple from Ukraine but who both live in Poland now.  Raya’s sisters were able to come to the wedding, but her brothers couldn’t get across the border.  Thankfully her mom and dad were able to come as well.  All went well including all the preparations for it and execution of the wedding.  Wow.  That can be written in one sentence and involves so much!

Here’s a photo that Tim, our son, took.

This week (today) we had a special Thanksgiving Sunday or Harvest Sunday which they celebrate in Ukrainian Baptist churches. For years now we have been having our own Thanksgiving meal together in October, but the Ukrainians have added a whole new layer to it.  They are used to bringing a lot of food including fruits and veggies and making a display in front of the church.  Then, people take home the parts that will spoil but otherwise leave it up a couple more weeks. There is a special name for it but I don’t remember what it is as it is a Ukrainian word.  We think it is a beautiful gesture.

Afterwards we had a meal together.  We had a sweet spirit with a nice crowd. I didn’t count how many we had but it was essentially both the Ukrainian group and the Polish church service together. Maybe around 30?

But my big prayer request this week is for Mike’s trip. He has a two-week trip to Central Asia beginning on Friday. Please pray that all goes well and that he will be safe along with the people he goes to work with.

He will spend one week in one country and then fly to a second Central Asian Country and have more lectures there.
Please pray for safety and health for Mike. It seems like he gets sick a lot when traveling over there.  The germs apparently are quite a bit different from what his body is used to.
Thank you so much!  He should come back in two weeks, Lord willing.

Tim will take care of the services at church while he is gone.
Tim and Claire are taking a lot of Polish classes right now and working on getting their temporary residency card. Please pray that the Lord would expedite that process!

And I am fighting a cold. I always do after something big and the wedding last week was a big deal for our little church.

Thank you again for praying for us and for giving.  We appreciate you!

Serving Him,
Nahum 1:7
