Text: Luke 2:8-18
God placed the glorious message of Christ’s birth into the mouth of the most unlikely messengers.
I. The Good News Of Christmas
The good news of Christmas is that God loves the most unlovely and lowest of people.
While the world may label you the good news of Christmas is that God loves you!
Hebrews 1:6
“And again, when he bringeth in the firstbegotten into the world, he saith, And let all the angels of God worship him.”
Hebrews 2:16
“For verily he took not on him the nature of angels; but he took on him the seed of Abraham.”
II. The Great Joy Of Jesus
Joy is never found in human presents but in the Heavenly gift of God’s Son Jesus!
John 15:11
“These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full.”
Romans 5:8-11
“But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him. For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life. And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement.”
On that first Christmas night God was fulfilling His promise and making it possible for us to experience eternal and life changing Joy!
Eternal and everlasting joy becomes our reality the moment we accept God’s greatest gift!
Christmas is the proof of a promise fulfilled in Jesus and the hope of a greater future for all mankind.
"Mild he lays his Glory by
Born that Men no more may die
Born to raise the Sons of Earth
Born to give them second Birth"
Philippians 2:6-11
“Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”
Jesus in his humanity and deity came to Earth to fix once and for all the sin problem!
III. The Gospel Message Still Needs Proclaimed
The message of the Gospel must still come through the mouths of normal everyday people whose lives have been changed by Gospel!
II Corinthians 4:5-7
“For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your servants for Jesus' sake. For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.”
